We've been in Church street now since 1996 but before that my amazing (old) boss Derek Whitehouse had a studio in the Market Square and several others around town. I started as a photographer for Derek back in 1986 (yes - I'm that old!)
The derelict old Tudor building in Church Street came up for sale, It's taken a lot of hard work and tears to create this amazing place I work in. When Derek first bought the place in 1993 being a Grade 2 listed building, planning went in for change of use from residential to commercial, create 1 room from the 2 downstairs (ever noticed our 2 external doors into the reception), and several rooms upstairs from the long room upstairs. It was the original courthouse in Melton Mowbray c1550. 3 years later we move on the borrowed flatbed truck, thanks Keith, 500 yards away to Church street. I've put a few pictures on, there are many more that I could upload but won't. If you want to see the book of pictures we have and the stories I've collected about the place, please call in anytime and have a look. Even now I'm changing things up. In a few weeks, the reception is having a make-over. I'm putting up walls, no not fixed listed people, don't get concerned. I have to fix free-standing walls to a solid piece of victorian furniture so that I don't touch the sand stone walls. This little area is going to be my new viewing area for the lovely families I photograph. They can sit in private and enjoy the story we've created together. Watch this space for updated images of the reception.
