1940's Weekend Melton Mowbray

24 May, 2022

Melton Mowbray played host to the 1940's weekend earlier this month. There were some amazing costumes, authentic machinery and re-enactors. Churchill gave an inspiring speech, the Lancaster Bomber flypast, Monty and Bomber Harris but the highlight of my visit was meeting a 99-year-old Land Girl, the lovely Annie. She had a wicked sense of humour. The uniforms and period clothing were fantastic. The whole event took place in the town park and town centre. Plans are already under way for 2023. I have edited a few pictures and will be updating them as soon as I can.
